My fascination with tarot cards began 20 years ago when I studied to be a psychospiritual guide. In one module, we learned about what tarot was and what the tarot cards could convey. I was so captivated by the depth and potential of the cards that I took another course with Derek Seagrief, a pure magician and a huge inspiration. He had an original set of Aleister Crowley´s Thoth tarot cards, and when he spoke the cards almost became three-dimensional.
He taught me, among other things, to read the cards intuitively, which means I am clairvoyant in my readings. Even though there are countless types of tarot cards, these are the cards I use today.
The cards are one of the many tools I use in my spiritual psychotherapy practice. For example, if a client is facing particular challenges, the cards can provide deep insights and concrete tools on how to tackle the challenge. This can be a tremendous help in shedding light on problems.
Some clients may be skeptical when I suggest looking into the cards but are pleasantly surprised when their readings resonate deeply within them. I am often met with astonishment at how spot-on the tarot readings are, reflecting the client's situation precisely. But the amazement is no greater than the understanding that everything is energy, and the client draws exactly the card that calls for their attention and that they need on their developmental path at that given moment. It is neither mystical nor miraculous but rather down to earth in my world. Tarot, for me, is a superb tool for gaining clarification in a sharp and effective manner.
Just as in astrology, where you have a zodiac sign, you also have a life card in tarot. Becoming familiar with your life card provides a greater and deeper understanding of how you exist in the world. Similarly, you have a yearly card, which starts every year on your birthday. Being aware of your yearly card is an invitation to your specific developmental potentials for that year.
It is also possible to go even deeper and look at the soul card, which represents the qualities the soul has brought into this incarnation and the potentials one can fulfill when becoming conscious of the soul – one's higher self.
