Young people and children under pressure

There are so many young people and children under pressure today, and it is a significant societal problem. It manifests in various ways such as loneliness, stress, anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, grief, bullying and more.

There are long waiting lists for psychologists. Aid organizations such as "Børns Vilkår", "Red Barnet" (Save the Children), and "Psykiatrifonden", among others, try to alleviate the pressure, but they often fall short of addressing the many requests they receive daily.

As a young person, one can feel lost and lonely, and as a parent, you feel powerless because there is nothing in the world you would rather do than help your child.

Many children and young people feel a particular pressure from social media, where they are often presented with an idealized version of life. They may feel that they cannot be socially accepted if they don't look a certain way, have the right things, and have the right friends.

In schools and on educational paths for young people, there is also a constant struggle to keep up and preferably get top grades. They experience stress, feel inadequate, and cannot keep up.

But there are alternative ways for your child to get help and lighten their heart. There are many competent psychotherapists who can contribute to this task.

I, myself, have been a teacher for many years and have daily experience dealing with children's challenges. Here, I have also gained valuable experience with children with diagnoses. Furthermore, I have volunteered at "Børns Vilkår", where children and young people have reached out with various life challenges.

As a mother, I have also had to tackle and embrace the many different challenges that my children have gone through in their upbringing, especially during their teenage years.

As a psychotherapist, I draw on my many years of experience in relationship work with young people and children - to meet them as equals, make room for what is difficult, and focus on all the qualities and competencies they possess so that they gain confidence to face the world as the individuals they are.
